Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Medic

Combat stims, healing stations, and squad survival.

Last updated:

The Medic is the support and sustain class in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, updated from the original Doc. The Medic’s role is keeping the squad functional through combat — not just healing after damage, but preventing it through offensive stims, controlling the battlefield with healing station placement, and getting teammates back into the fight instantly when they go down.

Class role

Medic is a sustain and support class. In coordinated squads, a skilled Medic dramatically extends the team’s survival window in Horde and allows aggressive pushes in campaign that would otherwise be suicidal. In random pub squads, Medic impact is reduced because it depends on teammates responding to healing cues, but even an average Medic improves squad longevity.

Signature weapons

Armat X1 Fireball — Close-range shotgun-class weapon. High damage at close range, ineffective beyond medium range. The Fireball is the Medic’s answer to Xenomorphs that close to melee range despite your squad’s best efforts.

Weyland-Yutani Type 21 Tactical Shotgun Mk.2 — More range and accuracy than the Fireball. The Type 21 is better for open environments where enemies approach from multiple directions. Less effective in tight hive corridors where the Fireball’s spread is an advantage.

Combat Stims

The Medic’s signature tool is the Combat Stims system, a two-mode deployable:

Adrenaline Surge — Burst healing that restores a significant portion of a squadmate’s health instantly. The primary stim. Apply to any squad member below 50% health, or pre-emptively before entering a known high-damage section.

Overclock — Offensive buff that increases a squadmate’s fire rate and movement speed for a short duration. Effective before a push, during a Horde wave escalation, or when a squad member is isolated and needs to fight their way back to cover.

Both stims are limited resources per mission — manage them carefully. Do not waste Overclock on situations where an Adrenaline Surge would have been more valuable.

Advanced Trauma Station

The Trauma Station is the Medic’s deployable base. Placed at a strategic location, it provides ongoing passive healing to squad members within range. The station has three upgrade paths available at the loadout screen:

Base Trauma Station — Passive small-area healing. Always available.

Buffing Station — Healing plus a sustained damage resistance aura for allies in range. This is the recommended Horde upgrade. A Buffing Station near your primary chokepoint gives the squad passive sustain through attrition waves.

Poison Station — Applies a damage-over-time effect to enemies that enter its range. Less useful in Horde but effective in campaign missions where you can bait groups of enemies into a stationary poison zone.

Perks

Bedside Manner — Significantly speeds up revive speed. When a squad member is downed, a Medic with Bedside Manner can pull them back into the fight nearly instantly. This perk is critical in Insane Horde where a single revive can mean the difference between a wipe and a successful wave.

Surgeon’s Hands — Prevents knockback during revive pickups. A downed squad member under fire will not fly backwards during the revive animation if the Medic has Surgeon’s Hands. Combined with Bedside Manner, this makes the Medic the only reliable revive source at high difficulty.

Build recommendations

Horde sustain build Primary: Armat X1 Fireball. Deployable: Advanced Trauma Station upgraded to Buffing Station. Perks: Bedside Manner + Surgeon’s Hands. This prioritises keeping the squad alive over offensive capability.

Campaign aggressive build Primary: Type 21 Tactical Shotgun. Deployable: Combat Stims — Overclock mode. Perks: Bedside Manner. Use Overclock to enable aggressive pushes through difficult campaign sections.

Squad synergy

Medic pairs with every class but the relationship with Machinist is particularly strong. Cross-Platform Synergy (Machinist’s turret aura) combined with a Buffing Station makes a Medic nearly unkillable. The Medic sustains the squad, the Machinist’s turret synergy reduces incoming damage, and the Duelist or Marauder handles the damage output.

Frequently asked questions

Is Medic good for beginners? Medic requires game knowledge more than mechanical skill. You need to understand when to use Adrenaline Surge versus Overclock, where to place Trauma Stations for maximum coverage, and when to commit to a revive versus playing safe. Beginners who understand the game well may find Medic intuitive; mechanically-focused beginners should start with Marauder.

How many Combat Stims can I carry? The stim count is limited per mission and scales with difficulty. On Veteran, you receive enough stims for approximately 4-6 uses across the entire mission. Manage them conservatively in the early mission.

Can I self-heal? Yes. Adrenaline Surge can be self-targeted. If you are below 50% health, you can apply the stim to yourself.

Does the Buffing Station healing stack with Adrenaline Surge? No. Healing effects in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 do not stack — only the largest heal applies. A squad member in a Buffing Station who takes burst damage should receive an Adrenaline Surge for the full heal, not rely on the passive station healing.

Is Medic mandatory for Insane Horde? A coordinated squad with a skilled Medic significantly outperforms the same squad without one on Insane Horde. However, a skilled Duelist or Marauder can carry a squad through Veteran and lower Heroic without a dedicated Medic.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2.

Can I place multiple Trauma Stations?

No. Only one Trauma Station can be active at a time. If you place a new station, the previous one is deactivated.

Does the Medic have offensive capability?

Yes. The Medic's shotguns are effective at close range. Combat Stims — Overclock can be used offensively to boost a squadmate's damage output during a push.

What is the best Medic build for solo play?

Medic is the weakest solo class because its primary value is squad sustain. In solo play with AI marines, run the Horde sustain build and position near AI squad members to keep them alive.
