Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Specialist

The Specialist is Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2’s endgame custom class. Once you have levelled all five base classes to maximum rank, the Specialist becomes available. Rather than offering a fixed kit, the Specialist gives you a loadout builder where you mix major ability fragments and minor passive fragments from all five base classes. The result is a class that can be tailored to your exact playstyle, squad role, and mission requirements.

How the Specialist works

The Specialist does not have a fixed ability or signature weapon. Instead, you select fragments from a grid in the loadout screen:

Major fragments — Replace your primary class ability with one from another class. For example, you can use Machinist’s Shredder Bodyguard drone or Hunter’s Particle Beam as your main ability.

Minor fragments — Passive bonuses that stack in a separate grid. You can combine minor fragments from different classes — a Marauder Reactive Charges minor, a Medic Bedside Manner minor, and a Duelist Stay on Target minor can all be active simultaneously.

The grid has a limited number of slots. You cannot fill every fragment simultaneously. Building an effective Specialist requires choosing a primary role and selecting supporting minor fragments that enhance that role without diluting it.

Unlocking fragments

Each base class unlocks a set of fragments when it reaches maximum rank. The Specialist menu shows a progress tracker for each base class. The higher your rank in a base class, the more fragments from that class become available.

Signature weapon

The Specialist’s default signature weapon is the L56A3 Smartgun. However, the Specialist has full access to the entire weapons pool. You are not locked into the smartgun.

From Duelist:

Horde balanced hybrid Major: Machinist Shredder Bodyguard (lane-holding drone). Minors: Marauder Reactive Charges (defensive knockback), Duelist Stay on Target (damage ramp), Medic Bedside Manner (faster revives).

Horde burst damage Major: Marauder Titan Rockets (room-clearing). Minors: Duelist Stay on Target + Duelist Mobility (max damage ramp and repositioning speed).

Campaign support Major: Medic Adrenaline Surge (burst healing). Minors: Machinist Cross-Platform Synergy (turret ally resistance), Duelist Stay on Target.

Solo build Major: Hunter Particle Beam (precision control). Minors: Medic Surgeon’s Hands (no-recoil revive), Marauder Reactive Charges.

Is Specialist better than all base classes? Specialist offers hybrid builds no base class can match. However, a max-level Duelist will outperform a generalist Specialist in pure sustained DPS. Specialist wins on flexibility and hybrid combinations.

Can I change my Specialist build mid-mission? No. Specialist loadout changes must be made at the loadout screen before starting a mission or during the buy phase in Horde.
