Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Weapons Tier List
Best-in-slot weapons for every class and mission type.
Weapon ratings focus on practical combat performance — damage output, ammo efficiency, ease of use, and how consistently effective a weapon is across enemy types and difficulty levels.
Tier S — Best in Slot
M12A1 Rocket Launcher Highest burst damage in the game. One direct hit eliminates any non-boss enemy. Essential for Horde Praetorian waves and campaign heavy encounters. Ammo is limited — use deliberately, not continuously. Class: Marauder.
OCAP-91 Volcan heavy flamethrower Devastating sustained area damage in close quarters. Hive corridors and tight spaces are its domain. Less effective at range or in open Horde maps. Class: Marauder.
L56A3 Smartgun Automatic target tracking with high sustained DPS. The Specialist’s signature weapon, but available to all classes as a pickup. Exceptional for holding chokepoints and managing multiple targets.
Tier A — Strong
M41A Classic Pulse Rifle The most versatile weapon in the game. Available to every class. Reliable in every situation. Not the best in any single category but never the wrong choice. Class: All (default for several).
DB-48 Daittyo Heavy Rifle Duelist’s sustained primary. High capacity, excellent accuracy, manageable recoil. Excellent for long-duration Horde waves where ammo efficiency matters more than burst.
M56 Smartgun The workhorse smartgun. Automatic tracking and solid DPS. Lacks the L56A3’s damage output but more accessible as a general pickup.
Tier B — Viable
HNT-1 E1 Alamein Revolver Rifle High-damage precision rifle. Requires accurate shot placement to outperform sustained weapons. Excellent in the right hands, wasteful in inexperienced ones. Class: Duelist.
EDS-93 Plasma Discharger Burst plasma option for Machinist. Higher per-shot damage than the Zephyr but slower cycle time. Better for precision than area denial.
SMB-94 Zephyr Plasma Emitter Machinist’s primary sustained weapon. High DPS at mid-range. Ammo efficiency is lower than rifle-class weapons but the plasma visual and sound effects give strong feedback.
Tier C — Situational
Type 111 Directed Particle Emitter Hunter’s precision option. Weaker than the railgun for actual weak-point work, making it a secondary choice unless the railgun’s slower fire rate is a genuine problem.
BD-03 Djinn Personal Railgun High skill-ceiling weapon. Rewarding when you can consistently hit weak points, underwhelming when you cannot. Better for campaign boss work than Horde density.

Frequently asked questions
Is the M41A still good in endgame? Yes. The M41A remains a strong all-round weapon throughout the game. Its reliability makes it preferable to more specialised weapons when you are unsure what you will face.
Are smartguns worth using over pulse rifles? Smartguns trade flexibility for sustained DPS in a single direction. If you are holding a known chokepoint, smartguns outperform pulse rifles. For mixed encounters and repositioning, pulse rifles are more versatile.
