Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Hunter
Precision railgun. Slow prey, shatter weak points.
The Hunter is the precision damage and control class in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, rebuilt from the original Lancer. Where other classes deal volume damage, the Hunter deals surgical damage — slowing enemies, locking onto weak points, and amplifying the damage your squad deals to disabled targets. The class rewards game knowledge (knowing where weak points are) and aim precision.
Class role
Hunter is a precision control class. Its tools are designed around slowing enemies, stacking weak-point damage, and enabling the squad to focus fire on disabled targets. The Hunter is less about raw damage output and more about amplifying the effectiveness of every shot the squad lands.
Signature weapons
BD-03 Djinn Personal Railgun — The Hunter’s primary precision weapon. High-damage, slow-fire railgun. Each shot requires a brief charge. The railgun’s strength is weak-point hits — against enemies whose weak points are exposed, the Djinn deals exceptional damage. Against tightly clustered Drone packs without exposed weak points, it is less effective than sustained-fire weapons.
Type 111 Directed Particle Emitter — Faster cycle time than the Djinn, slightly lower per-shot damage. Better suited for the mid-fight precision shots that interrupt enemy actions rather than eliminating them outright.
Control kits
Particle Pulse (Particle Beam / Cryo Pulse) — Three-mode kit selectable before missions:
- Particle Beam: Standard beam that deals consistent damage over time. Best for sustained pressure on a single target.
- Cryo Pulse: Slows affected enemies. Best for controlling Runner packs and giving your squad time to respond to flanking threats.
Stasis Bolt (Vlad Bolt / Arc Bolt) — Two-mode precision kit:
- Vlad Bolt: High-damage single-target bolt that interrupts enemy actions. Effective for stopping a charging Praetorian mid-charge.
- Arc Bolt: Chains damage to up to three nearby enemies. Better for Drone and Runner groups where a single bolt can hit multiple targets.
Perks
No Mercy — Weak-point hits deal additional bonus damage and apply a short stun. This perk rewards precision play — a Hunter who consistently lands head shots will significantly outperform one who sprays into body mass.
No Rest — Damage against stunned or slowed enemies is further amplified. Stacking No Mercy (for the stun) and No Rest creates a self-reinforcing cycle: precision hits apply stuns, stuns amplify damage, amplified damage kills faster.
Build recommendations
Precision / Boss build Primary: BD-03 Djinn Railgun. Kit: Particle Beam. Perks: No Mercy + No Rest. This maximises weak-point damage against campaign bosses and Horde elite enemies.
Control / support build Primary: Type 111 Directed Particle Emitter. Kit: Stasis Bolt — Vlad Bolt. Perks: No Mercy + No Rest. Prioritise interrupt and control over raw damage output.
Frequently asked questions
Is Hunter good for beginners? Hunter has the highest mechanical skill requirement in the game. Accurate weak-point aim is not intuitive for new players. Beginners should start with Marauder or Duelist before investing in the Hunter class.
What are weak points in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2? Most Xenomorph variants have a visible weak point — a glowing spot that takes significantly increased damage when hit. The Praetorian’s underside, Stalker head, and Drone thorax are common weak points. The exact locations vary by enemy type.
Does the railgun have travel time? The railgun projectile is hitscan at typical combat ranges. There is no travel time on targets within 30 metres.
Is Hunter viable in Horde? Hunter is situational in Horde. Against mixed Drone and Runner waves, sustained-damage classes outperform Hunter. Against Horde compositions with many heavy enemies (Praetorians, Wardens), Hunter’s precision amplifies the squad’s heavy-weapon efficiency.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2.
Can Hunter use the smartgun?
Hunter does not have a smartgun as a signature weapon. You can equip a smartgun pickup if found, but Hunter's perks do not benefit automatic weapons.
What is the best Hunter build for solo play?
Hunter is the weakest solo class because it depends on squad follow-up for its debuffs to reach full effectiveness. Solo players should use Marauder or Duelist.
Does Cryo Pulse affect all enemy types?
Yes. Cryo Pulse slows all organic Xenomorph enemies. It does not affect synthetic enemies (androids) or boss-scale entities.
Is Hunter the best class for weak-point damage?
Yes. No Mercy and No Rest both amplify weak-point hits. Combined with the railgun's natural weak-point bonus, Hunter is the premier single-target damage class.
